Hello,

Thank you for taking your time to click on the “About me” page for PRESTON POLLARD.Ollie

Preston was born and raised in Anchorage Alaska  in the year 1988.  Alaska is home to 626,932 people and is the 49th most beautiful state of the union.  It is often called the land of the midnight sun.

Growing up, Preston was a very hyper-active kid who loved the outdoors and was always getting into something physically challenging. he was and still is involved with numerous community activities traveling throughout the US.

He’s played a lot of different sports like Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, Polar Bear hunting just messing. He also snowboards, ice skate, roller skate to name a few of his activities.  Then, one day around age7, he saw some kids skateboarding down his block and that sparked a whole new interest.  He was hooked and wanted to try something new (to him). Imagine a board with wheels that you ride all over the neighborhood with your friends.

WoW!

He begged his dad to buy him a board and he did, well, a cheap one at first. It took a lot of time and dedication for Preston to prove to his Dad that this was not a fly by night sport and that he was serious about learning the skills it took to acquire and maintain a real board.  He did and he haven’t stopped skating since.

It wasn’t easy skating in Alaska.  Like Preston says, “the winters are rough.  ”Skating in Alaska was a struggle” Pollard says. “I skated in my garage it had no heat in it, and I was freezing”. “I would sometimes practice tricks in below -0 temperature then rush back inside for some heat”.  ”I was so excited for the summers, the summers in Alaska are beautiful”. After a while he got better but  noticed their were not many “brothas” skating. Some people teased him about being the only “brotha” but to Preston, it didn’t matter. “I didn’t care because I was doing something I love”.  ”If you skated, you were family to me”.

Pollard was sponsored at the age of 14 by Northern Boarders in Anchorage Alaska.  He said it was a blessing to get free skateboards and recognition for what you love to do.

At the age of 16 he was sponsored nationally and was getting free boxes of gear shipped out from California to his home turf.

He spent a lot of his time filming and taking photos around Anchorage with friends. He’s mastered the art of networking and is a “go-getter”.  He’s contacted and networked with companies all over the world.

His first contact in California landed him an interview in Vapors Magazine that went National. The local newspaper, The Anchorage Daily News was also impressed. He then got the opportunity to be featured in a special article for the newspaper in Anchorage. He was also featured on the cover of The Press newspaper in Anchorage.  He then moved his way up to TV interviews on KTUU Alaska’s News Station and FILAM tv show.

At the age of 18 Preston gave his life to the Lord and joined a Skateboard team called Boarders For Christ. He toured all over the United States in 2007 speaking and performing demos for thousands of people.  ”It was an amazing time”.

At 19, after noticing some of the negative childhood influences and all the bad temptations young adults have  around them, he started to speak in schools in Anchorage. First the elementary then middle schools.  He spoke to them about following their dreams and passions and how not to be a follower but a leader. He also puts on speaking and skateboard demonstrations for the kids and they love to be involved.

At the age of 20 Preston decided to take his dreams into another level. As he says, “With the help of God and his family, he moved to Los Angeles CA to pursue all of his God given talents. He was not sure what was going to happen, but have  always kept a positive outlook and have continually focused not just on where he is, but where he is heading.

At the age of 21 he has been featured in commercials, skating with pros, even got to Host a show called “PUSH”.  Preston have been interviewing some of the biggest names in the skate industry like Kareem Campbell, Steve Berra, and Christian Hasoi  just to name a few.

Pollard has been skateboarding for 14 years, and have been featured in skateboarding magazines for various companies. Coaching at the world famous Windelles Camp and touring around the U.S. with Boarders for Christ. I have been speaking at schools for over 4 years in Alaska, and California. Youth Mentoring at the Rock Church in San Diego, CA . I have also worked with Actress Alyson Stoner in her project skateboarding. I hosted a show called “PUSH” it was a blessing. Not only do I have a passion for skateboarding, I have a passion to walk close to the God.

Pollard keeps things moving, a go-getter, interrupter. He says, Keep your head up and stay true to yourself. Watch out for those people trying to lead you away from your destiny.

Pollard now resides in sunny Los Angeles, CA where he’s making his dreams a reality.
